This Weeks Teaching
Aaron was eloquent and easy distracted. He was raised up to Moses’ right hand when Moses pleaded with God against leading the deliverance of the Israelites. Aaron became the mouthpiece and the voice of Moses. As a son of the tribe of Levi, Aaron is ultimately the first high priest for Israel. However, it was also under Aaron’s watch and leadership that the Israelites crafted a golden calf to worship while Moses received the 10 Commandments on Mt. Sinai. Aaron is also the one to whom was given the benediction that we still use at the close of most of our worship services: “The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26
Aaron and his descendants are credited with the responsibility of determining what is holy and what is common for Israelite life. He was also in charge of performing the sacrifices, and teaching the divine law to the people. Aaron plays a prominent role in Exodus, Leviticus, and Numbers, but his role and the role of his descendants fades after these books.

I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” The Lord said to him, “Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”
But Moses said, “Pardon your servant, Lord. Please send someone else.”
Then the Lord’s anger burned against Moses and he said, “What about your brother, Aaron the Levite? I know he can speak well. He is already on his way to meet you, and he will be glad to see you. You shall speak to him and put words in his mouth; I will help both of you speak and will teach you what to do. He will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you were God to him. But take this staff in your hand so you can perform the signs with it.”[/x_columnize][/cs_column][/cs_row][/cs_section][cs_section parallax=”false” style=”margin: 0px;padding: 45px 0px;”][cs_row inner_container=”true” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”1/1″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_line style=”border-top-width: 1px;”][/cs_column][/cs_row][cs_row inner_container=”false” marginless_columns=”false” style=”margin: 0px auto;padding: 0px;”][cs_column fade=”false” fade_animation=”in” fade_animation_offset=”45px” fade_duration=”750″ type=”2/3″ style=”padding: 0px;”][x_custom_headline level=”h4″ looks_like=”h4″ accent=”false”]This Week’s Questions[/x_custom_headline][cs_text class=”cs-ta-justify”]These questions can be brought to our small group, Community in The Word, on Sunday, April 10, 2016 at 9:30AM.
