Reach out and Read (ROR) is a national program in Children’s Hospitals that promotes early literacy development.  Our local Nationwide Children’s Hospital has a strong ROR program.  One component of the program is the opportunity for a volunteer to read gently used books to a sick child while they are waiting to see the doctor, then taking that book home.  The program relies on the donations of gently used, non-religious books from the community.  Bailey Bennett is leading a book drive here at St. John’s that will run for the next 6 weeks (through the end of Vacation Bible School July 21st).  Gently used books for little ones all the way up through novels for teens are greatly needed.  Please consider cleaning out your bookcase at home, picking up books at garage sales or even purchasing children’s books to donate to this wonderful cause.  Your donation can be the one that makes a sick child’s eyes light up with joy.  You can find a collection box located in the link area.  Thank you for your support!
